Enhancing Nationally Determined Contributions through Protected Areas
This report of WWF US shares the evaluation of Nationally Determined Commitments (NDCs) to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change 2015 Paris Agreement. These NDCs emphasize the role protected areas and other conserved areas play in the achievement of global mitigation and adaptation targets. By reviewing the 151 currently available NDCs, this report determines how parties intent to use protected areas to contribute to climate challenges. The results indicate date more than one-third (67 our of 179) of the countries identifies protected areas as a means to achieve their adaptation and mitigation goals.
