This report shows the changed perspectives of industrial tuna fishermen in Manta, Ecuador, on the Galapagos Marine Reserve (GMR). During the establishment of the GMR in 1998, Manta’s tuna industry strongly opposed the reserve, which led to a political conflict. The study shows that today the perspective of the tuna industry of Manta is more positive and that the MPA is seen as a nursery that supports their fishery. Because of the anthropological, qualitative approach the perspectives of fishermen, boat owners and others from the industry is revealed. Besides the report the project also produced two short videos that can be used as evidence that MPAs also benefit fisheries. Also available in Spanish.
